The State of the Radio Access Network (RAN) 2014

The State of the RAN 2014

The data explosion throttled the RAN and the customer experience.  Traffic doubled, with the busiest square kilometers carrying up to 100 gigabytes per day. Data downloads and uploads grew by more than 100 percent, and a new crop of smartphones drove a dramatic increase in data usage.  As a result, the RAN experienced a dramatic increase in call failures, dropped calls and data sessions, leading to an undesirable customer experience.

The state of the RAN directly impacts a service provider’s ability to offer network reliability and deliver the best customer experience.
